One of my central motivators in life is happiness. Before I was where I’m now, I found it hard to be totally happy. I didn’t have the right mindset, information and tools to choose for long-lasting happiness and I didn’t know that everybody deserves a life with happiness, including me. There are still enough women who don’t know they deserve long-lasting happiness and that they can choose for it by knowing the right tools and knowledge. Therefore I will mention 4 happiness traps you have to know, traps that distract and robbing you from happiness. Here are a few you might recognize:
Our minds get used to stuff. You think you will be happy if you have the newest phone, wearing the best brands, earning the highest salary, that good education or the biggest engagement ring. But as soon as we get it we get used to it and we are not as happy we thought we would be or not happy as long we thought we would be.
Moving Target. The idea that we have, that we can have more happiness in the future if we finally reaching that goal we are fixated on. For example to loose those extra kilo’s, the day you are married, to be rich or live in a specific neighbourhood. However, we can get too focused on the trip towards this goal and miss the intended outcome and we forget to live during the process of reaching this goal.
We think our motivation will vaporize. Some people think that if they are happy now, they will miss the motivation to reach for their best life. They do everything to get that promotion or recognition and loosing relationships, experiences and peace of mind. So they loose opportunities to be happy in order to get their best life but they forget life is in every moment.
Confusing the passing with the permanent. We can confuse the short-term happiness with the long-term happiness. The short-term happiness are all passing experiences, they can be intense but they are not lasting. Some people think that was their moment and wait for another great moment of happiness and spilling time while waiting.
Now you know these traps you can recognize them and don’t get caught in them.
